We are currently recruiting an experienced Concrete Superintendent to assist with fast-paced, challenging projects in Dawson Creek, BC.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Field Operations Manager, the Concrete Superintendent is responsible for the execution of the concrete scope of all projects assigned.  This includes safely completing the project scope within the provided schedule and budget while maintaining a high standard of quality. In addition, this role is expected to co-ordinate and supervise the performance of Pagnotta employees, sub-contractors, and suppliers under contract by Pagnotta. This role requires communication with the executive team, project management staff, consultants, and suppliers. The superintendent is involved in all phases of a project including pre-construction, drawing approval, project execution, and project close out/turn over.   

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Supervise day-to-day site activities
  • Plan, schedule and organize lead hands and assign projects.
  • Onsite supervision of workers, sub-contractors, and visitors.
  • Manage additional supervisors (carpenter foreman, labor foreman, etc.).
  • Development of all Pagnotta employees – conduct performance reviews, training, performance management and discipline up to an including termination when required.
  • Managing project schedule. Identifying delays, short falls, or gains within scopes.
  • Coordinate construction with prime contractor and all sub-contractors.
  • Approve and be accountable for project invoicing.
  • Maintaining company equipment, tools, and assets
  • Ensuring materials, tools and equipment needed to complete projects is provided as needed.
  • Manage project scope in contract.
  • Maintain a current set of as-built drawings for all projects.
  • Hosting and attending project meetings.
  • Advise project management of project schedule constraints and potential issues.
  • Review and compare project drawings for any discrepancies or construction issues.
  • Document management. Create RFI’s, keep and file all site documents produced.
  • Administer Pagnotta Quality Management throughout project scope.
  • Enforcement of Pagnotta and legislative safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform inspections and reviews as required.
  • Conduct on-site interviews with potential new hires.
  • Coordinate work with General Contractor.
  • Preplan project tasks.
  • Effectively communicate with trade partners.
  • Review formwork drawings and assist engineer with design.

Working Conditions

  • 40 hours per week starting at 7:00 am. Overtime and work on weekends as required.
  • Two paid 15 minutes breaks and one ½ hour unpaid lunch break per day
  • Working at heights

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience interpreting structural, architectural, interior design, civil, landscape, mechanical, and electrical drawings, and specifications considered an asset.
  • Familiar with Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience completing quality management inspections
  • Firm understanding of OH&S regulations and legislation
  • Familiar with employment standards legislation
  • Familiar with common building practices and scopes of work
  • Excellent English verbal and oral communication skills
  • Excellent problem solver

Educational/Experience Requirements

  • Red seal trade ticket (carpentry preferred)
  • Gold seal certification considered an asset
  • 10+ years of onsite construction experience specifically in formwork concrete scope for commercial, high rise, mixed-use or institutional projects
  • 3+ years in a leadership role as a superintendent or foreman
